Franklin Goose - Awesome Promotion You DON'T Want to Miss!

Just stumbled upon this adorable goose on the internet today...

Franklin is his name - as you can see.

You can find him here, at Franklin Goose.com.

Not only does this look like a great baby item store, they have committed themselves to providing and selling only the safest, most organic and natural products available.  They hand pick each product on their site.

You really need to go check them out.

But the cool thing is... right now, they are holding a promotion.  Review any of the items in their store and they will give you a $5 credit for each review.  Review 10 items, get $50.  Pretty awesome, right?  They have to approve each review, so make sure that you've actually used it before you write a review for it.
Offer expires March 31st.

(By the way, this obviously isn't "Tree Hugging Tuesday" even though I'm posting about eco friendly finds.  The schedule was great to get me in the groove of blogging, but now it's limiting me!  I feel restricted by the schedule!  So, you can see that my "Here's what you can expect..." side bar has changed to topics.  I will blog about topics that interest us all on any day I feel like! - so thanks for reading and subscribing!)

Organic Product Suggestions...

I need your help today on "Tree-Hugging Tuesday".

I'm planning an all-natural/organic birthday package for this guy.

That's my brother.  He is usually that goofy, and I love him for it!

And his New Years Resolution was to eat/be more organic.  I thought I'd help him out with a fun birthday package.  BUT, I'm not sure what to get.

Here's what I have so far... (Tyler, if you are reading this, STOP NOW!!!)

Dr. Bronner's Soap

A Klean Kanteen
... And that's pretty much it.  I NEED your help!

What are some of your favorite organic/all-natural products?  They can be household items, cooking utensils, personal care items, clothing, ... anything!

Thanks in advance.  From me and my brother, Tyler!

Watch this first...

Want to join me?!  Maybe I'm getting all hyped up on emotional responses, but I really do think there are WAY too many chemicals in our homes and air.  It's not how it used to be, and I don't think it's how it has to be today - at least as far as I can control it.

Like I said before, I'm starting with my bathroom.
Simplify, Organize, Choose Organic...
Yesterday, I cleaned out and threw away everything that I haven't used this past month and/or things that had lots of chemicals in it.  Here's what I threw away:

That sink is FULL.  There were a few chemical infested products I just couldn't throw away, yet.  And I think that's ok.  The goal is to be 100% natural and chemical-free, but it may take awhile.  I just feel better knowing I only have one can of hairspray instead of three!  Neil and I are also going to share shampoo and conditioner so we don't have four bottles in the shower... I think I'd like to try Burt's Bees.  OR this new line I saw at Target called "YES to Carrots - everything is derived from organic carrots, or other fruits and veggies!)

My bathroom feels so much cleaner and less cluttered, too.  I sat in there for a little while (yes, sat in my bathroom) dreaming about what I could do to make it a bathroom I love.  I have a few crafty ideas and can't wait to try them out!

(by the way, it's best to drop all these products off at a hazardous waste collection site, but I couldn't find where there was one in Savannah, GA.  Anyone know?)

Seventh Generation Diapers

In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.
- The Great Law of the Iroquois

I'm trying something new.  So is Little Bug, my son, whether he wants to or not.  I'm giving Seventh Generation products a shot.  I like the fact that they are better for the environment.

Seventh Generation uses recycled and post-consumer materials in its packaging and chlorine free ingredients in its products.  I bought diapers, dish washing tablets, and dryer sheets.  We'll see if they diapers hold as much as Pampers has for me!  The diapers are light brown... totally surprised me when I opened the package.  And I like that there are no silly cartoon characters or designs on them.  Just plain light brown.  Very earthy!

I really want to simplify my life as well as make a conscious effort to make lives better (including the Earth's).  I can't wait to buy the all purpose cleaner and get rid of everything in my cleaning tub!  No one should have to own all these cleaning products - not to mention all the chemicals I'm being exposed to when I clean

Anyway, I think Bug looks pretty darn cute in them!

This has led me on an adventure of discovering how I can simplify, organize, and save the earth (S.O.S.)  in each room of my house.  I'm starting this month with my bathrooms.  I'll be posting the end result sometime soon... it's already in the transformation process and I'm loving it!

ps... do you know what's in your tampons?! Click here to find out... I dare you!

and... check back later today to see a Better Life Bag I just finished!!!  It's BEAUUUUTIIIFUL!

Mexican Seasoning Mix Recipe

I'm sitting here smelling dinner.  Mexican Chicken Tacos... yummmmmmy.  I'm feeling especially proud of my meal because it includes a HOMEMADE Mexican Seasoning!  Yes, we all know we can purchase packs of taco seasoning for .99 at any grocery store.  But, did you know you can make your own for 28 cents?!

Thanks to a new cookbook I have, here is the recipe.  Try it out for yourselves and post the recipe you used the seasoning in as a comment to this blog - it can be used in place of any taco or chili seasoning packet!

Mexican Seasoning Mix
Makes 5 mixes
(can be used for taco or chili seasoning)

-1/4 cup flour
- 2 T chili powder
- 1/4 cup onion powder
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 4 tsp. salt
- 4 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 2 tsp. oregano

Put all of the ingredients in a blender, cover, and blend 5 seconds or less until powdery (don't over blend). Use the "pulse" feature if your blender has one. Add more cayenne pepper if you prefer it hotter.

Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. (I'm planning on getting a smaller one, but as you can see from my picture, I LOVE these airtight containers).

Three tablespoons of this mix equals one purchased packet of taco or chili seasoning mix.

Enjoy!

Oh, and with all that extra money you're saving, why not dump a few extra coins in the Starbucks tip jar... let's make lives better!
